Replaced Master Drive now can't install OS

My master drive crashed so I went out and bought a new one. But now when booting from CD it doesn't see the new drive. Obviously it's not formatted yet but how do I format it if my old drive is dead? Thanks.
 
Once you boot from the install disk, go up to the top menu bar and select "Utilities".
Then select "Disk Utility", this will allow you to partition and format your new drive.
