Replacement battery wont charge

So my old batter died because i didn't use y macbook for a month or so and i got a new battery from apple and now it wont charge... when i plug the cord in a light doesnt even go off...any suggestions?
 
I think a PMU Reset should fix that.

I can't remember how exactly to do it, so i would just google pmu reset on a macbook.
 
Did you say the light on the AC adapter doesn't come on when plugged in? There are four gold pins at the end of the AC adapter. Make sure none of them are broken off or pushed in. If they are stuck in, you may be able to get them to pop back out with a pen. Other than that the AC adapter and DC-in board are magnetic. Make sure they are both free of debris and nothing else metal is stuck where they connect to eachother.
