Replacing the NIC

I recently had to replace the ethernet card in my Mac. I used a Realtek I had laying around. I downloaded and installed the OSX drivers and everything worked great. That was until I restarted.. Every time I reboot I have to go into Sys prefs, internet and I get a message that says it found new ethernet interface and its ready to use... I click apply and everything works. This happens after each reboot. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

It's connected via a PCI slot right? Try reseating it (pull it out, put it back in, try to be a little more firm with it).
