I was hoping I could find the answer to my problem by searching the archives but I couldn't find a search engine.

Frequently, when I close my ibook's lid the laptop goes completely to sleep, well actually it goes comotose! Open lid and it will not return from sleep. Screen is black, yet I can hear the cursor clicking etc. Only workaround is to shut down (ie hold down power switch) the laptop.

Running 10.4.5, 1.12 GB DDR SDRAM, on a 1 GHz G4 ibook.

Thanks for any tips or help!!!

My Ti Powerbook 1GHZ does that in one scenareo. I have a Video iPod connected to the Ti book over USB 2.0 using a PC card in the slot (becasue Apple removed the bloody firewire from the new ipod). If the ipod is connected and the card powered on when I put it to sleep, it will not wake up and the only way to revover is power off like you.

However, if I eject the ipod and power off the card, I can sleep and wake with no problem.

So, do you have any usb or firewire devices connected when you put it to sleep.
