Retrieving trashed files

I have a MAC OS 9.1 and am in desparet need of data retrieval help. Inadvertenly I send a folder to the trash and then emptied the trash because I can no longer find the folder on my desktop. I did a search and have been trying to use Norton Utilities but to no avail. I have Power Mac 9600/300.
Thank you in advance for any prompt assistance you may be able to provide.

if you have written anything to the drive after emptying the trash, then you most likely will never see it again. sorry.
