I got Rhapsody yesterday and have been able to run the installer in VPC but before it installs it asks me for the drivers floppy and so I enter it then it comes up with a list of SCSI drivers for the CD-ROM drive and then Hard Drive and I don't know which ones to choose? So I just chose anyone and it diddn't work. Which ones should I be choosing? I am on a Dual 500 G4 running VPC 5.02.
Thanks :)

you need to install the last driver of the last page. Its some generic driver that works under VPC. EIDE/IDE or something like that. Then you need to type either hd0d or sd0d or en0d at that prompt in the second picture. This should do the trick:D

Ok thanks :)
Also JohnnyV if you logon onto AIM anytime soon I am on Cable for the next couple of hours and we could finally do the file transfer.

Ok these are all the choices on the last page I choose the alst one? doesn't look right but I will try. :)

Okay, here are some pics:

http://homepage.mac.com/johnnyvf/drivers.jpg

This is what you should see upon entering the driver selection menu. Press 7 three times to get this:

Select the first one by pressing 1. Exit the driver program by pressing 1 again. You should then see this after a bunch of words go by:

Then install!! You are using DR2 right? You may want to look at:

Also, make sure you have to drive set to a fixed size, not dynamic. Hope this gets ya through it:D

Just looked closer at your pics, the driver you need is number 5! Don't know why you have different drivers then I, you must be using DR1.

Ok I think I am using DR 1 becuase I notice yours sad Rhapsody 5.1 while mine says 5.0. But i chose the driver you said I got a whole bunch of textand then this.

Are you sure you have the drive you are trying to install on set to a fixed size?? Make sure that it is NOT set to dynamic. Also make sure the drive is unformatted!:) I have uploaded DR2 to os6 (a carracho server):D

I just made a new drive to make sure it was unformated snd tryed it and I still get the same error.:( I got my copies at a Hotline server that is pretty good they have System 0.1 through 7.5 beta and Rhapsody and a bunch of copies of Copland there addrees is 24.81.23.128:5600

OK, I'm new to the world of Apple. These screenshots look like some kind of Mac OS on Intel. Could someone please give me some info about this.

Rhapsody was basically Apple's first attempt at making OS X. If you notice, you can see a lot of the elements of OS X in it: the Terminal, the ".app" endings, etc. It still looks a lot like Mac OS 8, though.

Rhapsody basically slowly evolved into OS X as they found problems with it -- I seem to remember that the compatibility layer wasn't all that great.

I, personally, can't give you any more info than that. Maybe someone else can.

I would like to know something, though.. what's the point of running Rhapsody if you already are running OS X? Just for nostalgic purposes?

For some more screen shots try

simX got the explanation right, and yes there was an intel version (its the one in the pics). The point of running it? Well, its makes an excellent server, and for nostalgic reasons too. Plus some people find it fun to play with and learn another OS (like me). There was an intel version and a PPC version.

ablack: I remember hearing that some of the DR1 CDs going around hotline and carracho are bad. I know for a fact that the one on os6 is good, because I uploaded it.

The Images on OS 6 Carracho Server are A One I have installed both versions under VPC 5.02. You have both sets of installer disks to go with the images. JohnnyV's DR2 image works a treat I am trying to get it to install as I am typing this message on my Umax Laptop.
