Router problems: self-assigned IP

The Lone Deranger
I have a router that I use to connect my iMac to the internet. However, frequently, it will just disappear from the available routers. Other times it will be recognized, but will have a "self-assigned IP and may not be able to connect to the internet".

The same thing will happen to our iPods. The problem seems like it can be narrowed down to the router itself.

No help to you I'm afraid, but I get this from time to time. After a while it seems to clear and go back to normal. I wish I knew what causes it.

I'm connecting to a broadband 2MB connection via a D-Link 300T ADSL modem.

I've checked with the ISP and they can seen no problem at their end. They have also checked the phone line and found no problem.
