Damn, I like iPhoto (for now) and I like the new iMac (but I do NOT love it) but I really wanted a new PDA -- Palms suck! (When are we going to be able to hot sync properly without duplicate entries, etc. And when is Micro$oft coming out with a conduit for Entourage X!??)

That all being said, in a weird way, I am happy to be disappointed: while I really wanted an iPad/iWalk/iToilet PDA, I'm glad to see all those rumor junkies out there were proved so very f@#kin' wrong! ("My dog's friend's master's wife heard that her boss' son knew someone that heard that Steve Jobs might be coming out with some new thingy that looks like it could be something that looks like a computer or a toy or a PDA or a ....").

SHUT UP YOU RUMOR STARTERS! I only want to hear FACTS. You get my hopes all high and then dash them on the rocks below. My heart is broken (sniffle-sniffle) as alas I still cannot sync my Palm with Entourage!

Yeah! Thanks, I could use support right now; I'm bitter. I wanted the dream: a color iWalk with enough juice to power a PDA version of AppleWorks and sync with Entourage. And now I have to wait until . . . . [idiot rumor starters, insert your unsubstantiated bogus date here].

It is great to hear more of you that think Apple needs a PDA. Like I have been saying it would be great to have an iPDAthingy from Apple like PCs having the PocketPCs. Why not!?! Why not have a device that is about the same size as the Newton, runs OS X Lite, and can run "Pocket" versions of our favorite programs. Why not have iTunes on it and make it an mp3 player. Audiophiles are the one that want an iPod unless you are such a diehard Mac fan and have no care of what you do with your money.

Imagine a device that could not only organize your life (like a sucky Palm) and more. Want to go over that proposal before the meeting? Pocket Word/Excel/PowerPoint can help. Have a flash animation you want to present or review. A Pocket Flash viewer or just store it on it's hard drive. Want to read a book? Pocket Acrobat. Apple can go as far as PCs and WAY beyond.

Yeah, I thought it was funny. A nice touch would be a little LCD display with temperature -- after all, an Apple iWok would have a color LCD thermometer (a PC version would use coal instead of electricity and would use a leaky mercury glass thermometer that had been in someone's a$$).
 
The PDA Apple will unveil in March has the following (confirmed by an anonymous source) feature set:

- Apple iPad

- Newton OS 3 [810326] (although the name does not appear anywhere, unless you use a USB terminal as a debugging machine) with QuickTime layer

- Reflective TFT screen, 512 * 324

- 206 MHz StrongARM processor

- 128 MB RAM

- 5 GB Toshiba harddrive (the same as the iPod's)

- AppleWorks Mobile (NewtonWorks 2)

- QuickTime player

- Mobile iTunes

The whole appearance of the thing will NOT be Aqua but the brushed metal scheme known from iTunes, Sherlock (OS 9) and the QT player.

I'll believe it when I see it. Too many let downs to believe in unsubstantiated gosip. And don't say it's not because until I am looking at hard evidence it is literally just talk.
 
I too don't like it when people come up with random stuff and parade it as fact but the truth of the matter is that this is a rumor area. It keeps stuff out of the real news sections that doesn't belong there and its funny. iWalk? what a waste of time. This thread is good for people bringing ideas and others debunking them for various reasons and then after all the bugs are worked out someone can post it in the apple letters section. I can just imagin how many laughs apple employees get from here not to mention Steve himself. The truth in the matter is that you must take it with a grain of salt and don't let it get out of hand.
 
I would love to see that PDA come in March. However, I am not holding my breath with anything Apple again.

Is there anywhere we can read more? Just curious. :rolleyes:
