Plain Herve...

I know what the big deal about the keynote is! They introduce Herve to the Mac world! That would be an "impact"...

if you feel herve is wasting your time, then simply put him on your ignore list and let the rest of us enjoy his posts without your criticism. I have said it before and i will say it again - try talking to herve rather than about herve. he is a person and he has feelings just like you.

besides vanguard - you know nobody forces you to open up herve threads!!
and if your life is so busy that you can't afford to spend 30 secs tops reading a herve post here and there, then you had best slow down. that heart attack is probably right around the corner.

herve - i personally think your idea about osx turning the world upside down is pretty cool.

at least that's how i interpretted it.:p

To your first point, I will. I didn't know you could ignore somebody. I'll hunt for that feature.

To your second point, I suppose you don't mind spam in your inbox either? After all, it just takes a little bit of time and nobody forces you to see it.

Actually, when I'm looking for posts that people some effort into Herve's posts get in the way. He's not a zen master, he's not a deep thinker, he's a random poster. When you do that you need to expect some flames and have thick skin.

hey glad i could help you with using the site to your best advantage.
of course i don't like spam in my inbox. But it also takes me less time to filter and/or delete it than it does to try and get off their stupid lists. or to complain about it. I would also say that is an unfair comparison.

as for herve needing thick skin. i would say he has demonstrated that he does. I have never seen herve respond to anyone's criticism of him with harsh words. I find him to be a kind and gentle man. It is me whom your attitude offends. I think we deserve to treat each other as human beings - with tolerance and respect. If all herve is doing is random posting, and i would argue that his posts are not as random as you presume, then there is little harm in that. The fact is that many of us do find herve to be entertaining, enlightening and worth conversing with. Trying to control 'how' people post is being a bit of a control freak. you're certainly not alone on this site in wanting to do that, but that doesn't make it a socially acceptable thing to do.

just to be sure of one thing vanguard, i am not attacking you on this. I admit it could seem that way. it is more my wanting to make a bigger more general point for people who complain about others. I know that you are a very viable member here and that you make regular valuable contributions. I agree with a lot of things you post. I notice that you help others with troubleshooting. all these make you someone to be respected in my mind. but your way is not the only way of interacting on the site. all have something to contribute in their own unique way. even those pc troll serve a valuable role here. they help keep us on our toes -alert to threats and questioning our versions of reality. Herve helps me stay alert to myself at times and he certainly shows me different realities.:)
