S.O.S. > > Internal Hard Drive will not mount

One of my two internal 250 GB hard drives fails to mount...not visible on Desktop.

I ran Disk Utility, and it was unable to repair because of B-Tree corruption.

Since Dec. 30, I have been running Data Rescue II, but it has slowed to a crawl (500 blocks every 5 seconds). The scroll bar is only two-thirds across. 365 million blocks have been read...I have no clue how many more are left, but I know this...after 3 days, i am running out of time and patience. I am running Data Rescue to get my files off the hard drive so I can then reformat the drive.

QUESTION: Should I stop this process and try something else?

QUESTION: What is my best option for repair of a corrupt B-Tree? Would that be Disk Warrior or Drive Genius?

Please help!

If the repair program fails to correct the damaged B tree, you are out of luck.
If you have an option to try Disk Warrior, it's worth a try.

Archive & Install will not fix the structure problems on disk, so worst case you will be limited to erase and install as install option.

I hope it gets fixed by those programs though. good luck.

Thanks for your response to my problem.

All Data Rescue will do for me is recover files from the hard drive. Because the application has been running for three days (3/4 complete) at a snail's pace, my question is: should I abandon what I'm doing and try running Disk Warrior to attempt a repair of the B-Tree?

Thanks

yes.

that long tie stuck sounds like it has found the problem sector.

i had disk warrior crash on same location always - so AFTER diskwarrior I tried manually to save data over finder (very very slow) and I could get some stuff after a lot of hanging. so even disk warrior may eventually show hanging or not manage to get it in the end - it can still possibly show in finder after.
