Safari can’t open the page xxxxxx because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server xxxxxxx

I keep getting this message when I'm trying to log onto email or anything else that is a secure site. I'm using a iBook running OSX 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2. I use airport to connect to the internet. I've tried deleting all my old certificates in keychain and then all of them for that matter, resetting safari from the menu, restarting computer.

Do you have any more ideas?
Many thanks
Pete

Here's what I did on my intel iMAC running OX X 10.4.8 with Safari 2.0.4 ...
Went to Keychain Access (applications>utilites). Under KEYCHAINS (upper left), highlighted/selected X509Anchors. There were NO anchors listed on right. Performed ARCHIVE & INSTALL of system software. All is okay now.
