Safari troubles

Randman

HA! HA! HA!
Lately, I've been having a minor problem with Safari. It's not keeping me logged in. This site, and a few others, are now requiring me to login each and every time Safari is opened.
I checked and the cookies seem to be added correctly. Any ideas?

If you log out from the web site, you will need to log back in. In Preferences under AutoFill, make sure you have User name and password checked. Then you will not have to type in the user name and password each time.

I'm not logging out, just closing Safari.
One some websites where it says login forever, or remember my details, it's not doing that. It's not a Keychain issue, as that is working all right. It's more a matter of somehow Safari is not reading the cookies to keep me logged in.
I started having this problem just a few days ago.

Clearing the cache shouldn't have any effect on staying logged in...I do it all the time and never have been logged out. Cookies are what 'remember you', so either you've killed the cookies somehow or for some strange reason Safari is ignoring them.

I've checked with Cookie Muncher and they appear to be there for the various sites, and they appear valid.
The funny thing is I haven't done anything different since the problem started except I registered Fruit Menu.

I've been using FruitMenu for a long time, so I doubt that's the problem.

Go to Home>Library>Preferences and trash the com.apple.Safari.plist file. Now launch Safari and see if it has corrected itself.

I've trashed the plist, twice. No go. I even deleted Cookie muncher and its plist, in case it was corrupting things. Same problem.

Check the permissions on the cookies.plist file in ~Library/Cookies/
If this isn't writable, your cookies will not be saved.

Permissions are writeable. I just trashed that plist and started over again. They still have the correct permission but the same problem is persisting. Zammy, I'm about to take your advice. I think I'm at that point.

Ok, I finally solved the problem. I had updated to the latest build of pithhelmet, but didn't go in and change the new default settings. It's added a part on deleting cookies after quitting. All appears to be back to normal.
