Samba Passwords

I have 10.2.1 installed on my Macs at home. All of them are on an Ethernet LAN using Cat 5 wire. I also have a W98 "Beast (Dell GX110)" in the basement away from all the Macs. It is also on the LANS and I can see the Macs using Samba. However, when I try to connect with them and I put in my administrative passwords for any of the Macs, the response is that the password is incorrect. Does anyone know how the password is set for Samba connections on a LAN using 10.2?

Thanks,
Don O'Shea

Change the password on the macs and then change them back again. This forces the macs to actually run the smbpasswd program and thus sets your password for samba. that is what I had to do to get it working.

Good Luck

make sure you are logged into windows networking on the W98 Machine as a username that is setup on the mac. Also, make sure that the user has the box checked to allow windows filesharing or something like that. I did this on my WIN Me and 98 machine to get them to work.
