Scandic Characters problem, when XP -> OS X saving

I have a problem saving my webpages to OS X through home network. All the scandic characters are replaced with total garbage.

I have my webpages stored at my Mac and I am entering them from my PC through my local WLAN. (I do this ONLY cause they were created with MS Pagemaker and I haven't been bothered re-creating them). I open the files directly from OS X and save them there, through network. When sending them eventually forward to the FTP server (after transfer, from OS X), scandic marks and e.g. sign ' is replaced with something total junk.

e.g. a word that should be: "kehässä" turns up as: "kehss," and "Peter's" turns up "Petes"

Has anyone any idea why this happens? I have changed the International setting over to my local language (Finnish) and that was the only thing that I could come up with. If I send the files directly from my PC to FTP-server they are peachy, no problem there then... Weird.
