scaning with my umax astra 2000

I have a umax astra 2000 usb scanner and it scans great but i cant find out how to change the scanned pics to .jpg format. They allways end up in photo shop format can any 1 please help me out thanks in advance.
 
Do you use Photoshop as your scanning program? Or do you use Vistascan by itself. I have the Vistascan plugins in Photoshop and scan through Photoshop where I can set the type , jpg, psd etc. This is done after the scan is complete and I save as any of a number of types as I wish.
I take it you also scan in Classic, and not OSX 10.xx.:cool:
 
yea, if you're scanning in osx, i want to know how!! i've been looking at some photoshop alternatives to do my enhancing in x, but nothing that scans. what i want to know is how Omnipage can get their program to scan on this scanner in osx (as told to me by their reps at MWSF) and umax can't get it together and let us scan graphics? something is not right with this picture!!
