i have a canoscan 5000 and the software disk that comes with it does not automatically boot up the installation process and my attempts to do it manually have failed to make the computer recognize that there is something plugged into the usb port. i downloaded the latest from the canon website, and the programs seem to be on my computer, and i can get the toolbox to show up but not to scan.
