Scanning documents to Email crooked

I'm using HP Photosmart 3210. When I scan to an image file or TIF or to HP Photo Suite (or whatever it's called), the scan is OK. When I scan to PDF, when the progress message says Max OS as the provider of the service, the scan is crooked by about 20 degrees.

I have Mac OS X 10.5.7.

I've gotten around the problem by scanning to jpeg and attaching to email, but when the convenient feature is provided and doesn't work, it's frustrating.
