Screen going black - no respons at all

Hi

out of the blue, a G3 beige that used to work just fine for a few years, now suddenly lets the screen go black, after showing some white sparkless on a black background.
The computer doesn't respond anymore, although it didn't crash, because i can remotely login from another machine.
Attaching another monitor, this one says: no input signal.

appart from the harddisk it's completely original.
192 Mb of ram
30 Gb harddisk
Jaguar 10.2.8

i don't have a clue

Do you have a PCI Mac video card you could try. Sounds like a hardware problem.
 
.. i found out that the screen usually goes black when starting an application.
this used to be especially with explorer. and i noticed that in another account explorer didn't let the screen go black.. there safari does it...
