screen sharing or vnc with 10.5 and 10.3

I am trying to use the new and slick Screen Sharing feature of 10.5 to control a B&W running 10.3. It always fails to connect--timed out is the usual message. What do I need to do to the B&W (10.3.9) to make this happen?

Thanks in advance

I just want to say, great for you that you have all those wonderful products, lovely quote from Samuel Clemens, etc. but when your reply has absolutely nothing useful to the person posting (obviously they are not CAPABLE of upgrading to 10.5, as I am on my bondi blue original iMac) and they are asking a legitimate question - well, as my mother says and taught me well - "If you don't have anything nice to say, better not to say anything at all!" Gianni xo PS that is not said with malice, just an informational message!

Now to the person interested in connecting a 10.3.9 machine to a 10.5.8 or whatever the last digit is machines - it only works from the 10.5 machine to the 10.3 machine, not the other way around. I did not have to do anything special to the 10.3 imac bondi to get this to happen, just connecting by choosing "share screen" under networked list… if this didn't work for you, perhaps you don't have the "screen sharing" or "access to this mac" turned on under sharing? Check and see! Gianni

OK, newbie. This was your first post. However, you were not required to necropost. A necropost is a post on a long dead thread. Having necroposted, you are most certainly not required to make a dumb comment in your necropost.

Giaguara gave the OP the best advice available. You may disagree, but that's why they call you a "newbie." The OP is using a VNC client that does not work across MacOS X 10.3 and MacOS X 10.5. MacOS X 10.3 replaced by MacOS X 10.4 in April 2005. In computer years, that was two lifetimes ago. There were two choices. Far and away, the easiest option was to upgrade MacOS X 10.3 to a newer OS. The second best option was to find a MacOS X 10.3-compatible VNC client. There was no third best option.

Because this is an ancient thread and the OP moved on long ago, your impertinent post did no harm. No harm if we ignore the fact that you got off to a very bad start on this forum.
