screen spanning

Hi everyone. This is my first post here so forgive me if I posted in the wrong thread. I have a question and hope someone could help me.
I have a 2 computer setup both running under one monitor with a kvm switch.
One is PC running xp and the other is powermac g5 osx 10.4.6.
Here is my question. I would like to be able to add another monitor (ilo 15" LCD Monitor with DVI input) next to other monitor and use screen spanning with my mac. Is this possible? if yes what do I need to get , in addtion to the monitor, cable-wise and adapters so that I can keep the switch for both mac and pc?
Please advise.

What kind of mac do you have? And do you only want to switch between the two computers on one monitor, and have the other as mac-only?

I would strongly recommend looking into Synergy. It will allow you to have one monitor mac, and the other windows, and you can move your mouse across the two screens as if they were the same computer, without any hardware.

Thats exactly what I want to do, I have powermac G5 10.4.6
thanks for the quick reply BTW

well the vid card on the g5 should have 2 video out ports on it, so all you have to do is plug the other monitor into it and it will be mac only, and the other one will still switch with the kvm. once the other monitor is plugged in, there will be a new tab in the display pref pane. that tab will set wither the monitors span the desktop and how they are arranged in relation to each other, or if both monitors show the same thing (mirror).

Wow that seems so easy. Thanks eric2006 and sinclair_tm for your wonderful and much appreciated help.
