Would it be possible for me to connect a modern Apple keyboard to my old PowerMac 6500/275 if it uses SCSI? I have been looking for SCSI USB adapters but have been unsucessful...

the keyboard is not a scsi device, it will not work. besides, i've never seen a cable that will convert a usb device into scsi, i have seen the other way, but they don't always work. your best bet is to get a usb card, being that mac has pci slots. thats what i did with my 7500, then i had usb, firewire and ide thanks to a sonnet tempo trio.

I believe the connection for old style Apple keyboards and mouse is the ADB - Apple Destkop Bus. There are cables that go ADB > USB but I'm not sure if it works the other way around. My bet is no, but I could be wrong. If you're going to be buying an adapter, it would be cheaper to find on eBay or a local computer shop a used ADB keyboard.

You could get a PCI USB card for that Mac for the available PCI slot. I did it on a StarMax 4000 Mac clone and it works fine in both Linux and Mac OS 9.1. I have also done it on an Apple Power Mac G3 beige. The one I have is a Belkin branded PCI USB 1.x card. Not sure about the USB 2.0 cards, but I'm sure they would work. The only thing slowing it down would be the slower Mac.

The PM 6500 has two PCI slots, so a ~$15 USB PCI card would do the trick. But why not get one with both Firewire and USB?
