Secure website loading problems w/dialup

Wondering if anyone has had problems connecting to secure websites. I can't ever seem to connect to my online bank account on my TiBook because I keep timing out. Running 10.2.8 usually with Mozilla 1.6 or Safari.

Is there some configuration I need to do? To the browser? Or some init file?

here's what i would do.

1. try to browse other website, if i can browse through the website, meaning my internet connection is ok.

2. try to browse ur online-bank-account, if u can't then it is not your connection problems. might be the site is down or something.

3. you might want to check out the website requirement. sometimes they acquired u to browse using IE which is i think this is not the case.
