Securiyt Update 1.0

My machine CANNOT download Security Update 1.0; see the screenshot for the error message (it generates just as the download completes). Any suggestions?

Just love those descriptive error messages...try updating manually by downloading it then install from there, see if that goes.

Got it. Everything's up and running. I didn't even have to quit my other programs to install these UNIX files, much less reboot. It's nice to see Apple's really taking advantage of what OS X can do in this area.

Good to hear; and about not having to reboot, it's definitely nice.
However, as I mentioned in the announcement for the update, it doesn't restart sshd, so uncheck/recheck Allow remote login if you have it turned on.

Everything restarts when you reboot the machine...if I understand your question correctly.
