The way of selecting and moving items on my Mac has changed and I can't find how to correct it.
When I select an item with a mouse click in the finder (only in list mode) or in mail and click on it again holding the mouse button pressed I would expect that I can move the item somewhere else. Instead the mouse starts to select multiple items (files, messages) instead of moving the single selected item. Note that I am *NOT* pressing any other key (shift, ctrl, ...) and I am not clicking into the white space between items.
If I wait about 4 seconds between selecting and moving the item then the single selected item is moved as expected. I have compared with another Mac where things work are exactly as I would expect - i.e. without the 4 seconds delay.
I spent quite some time without success to find out how this could be changed, but without success. I would therefore appreciate hints or advice, since I can't find anything on the web.
Thanks, Manfred
