Sending Mass Personalized Mail

Hi folks,

I'm a law student trying to get a clinic at my school started. I wanted to send personalized emails to other schools who have clinics similar to the one I am trying to start to ask them for suggestions. I'd like to send out personalized emails to all of them but would rather not cut and paste several dozen times. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I might achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

I guess it depends on how often you want to send out mailings. If it's something you want to do on a regular basis, I would suggest signing up for a service like "Constant Contact" (www.constantcontact.com). You can make your mailouts look very professional and you are also able to fully monitor the activity of each mailout. I use CC with four newsletters, one a daily mail out and have never had a problem with it.

Another option, if you have a web hosting service, is to check and see if the service comes as part of your package. I am with 1and1.com and they include a "mass mailings" service with their basic plan.

Of course, both these options stress very clearly that if you use the service to send out unwanted emails (SPAM), you will be removed very quickly.

Make sure you follow the mass email rules of each state you send mail to. In California, for example, you must provide a REMOVE link, your physical address so they can request to be removed in writing, and a subject line that is clear.

Other states might have different requirements.

Constant Contact is a good source as are Benchmark, CoolerEmail, Lyris, phplist and Yesmail.

I would suggest contacting them by phone instead.

Even though you consider them personalized emails,
they will be still be impersonal to the recipients and still
possibly be thought of as spam - spam filters may also
keep the intended recipients from even getting the email.

-contacting them by phone is an option but I'd like to email first. Those that don't respond could get a phone call thought.

-I only plan to send out one or two batches. I won't be spamming. I don't have a web hosting service.

Thanks. Anyone else?

Be aware you WILL be spamming, especially if your leads/email list are people you don't know/are unqualified. That's why you need to abide by the spam rules in each state.

Search for 'email marketing' on your favorite search engine to find all the available options. Then you won't need your own webhost to accomplish the task.

If you just want to send text, you could do it yourself. Either way, the spam laws still apply.
