Hoping someone knowledgeable can help me...
My 2Ghz dual G5 has a Swiftdata 200 kit which allowed me to add three 120GB Seagate SATA drives internally, using a FirmTek Seritek/IV4 card in the PCI-X slot (4). I used it as a Raid 0 and its been working great for over a year.
I recently purchased a 2 bay FirmTek external eSATA enclosure that uses the Seritek/ISE2 card (went in slot 3) and after installation and boot-up, the old Raid volume and the card itself dissappeared. The drives do not spin up, and the card is not seen by System Profiler.
I'll be talking to FirmTek Support, but am worried that replacing the card will mean reformatting etc and loss of data (I know, I know... just gotten behind with back-ups)
What I'd like to know specifically is:
If the card went bad, can I restore the Raid by replacing the card?
If the card is bad, would that keep the drives from spinning up? If not, what is a likely explanation?
If somehow the Mac power supply is the cause (the new external rig has its own power) would it affect both drives and card?
Any troubleshooting advice appreciated.
