Server and client's partitioned drive

The designers in the Marketing Department will soon be getting their G5s. Apple supplies the G5s with a minimum of 80GB but I'd like to discourage them from saving completed projects locally. I'd like to make a partition "A" for applications and projects that are Work in Progress and "B" for completed projects to be accessed by the workgroup through OSX Server.

Is this technically possible?

Using OS 9, that would not be a problem. In OS X, you need to keep the App folder on the same drive as the System Folder.

But you can set up the Work in progress and the completed work on separate partitions. Just make sure you either - a) set up all the computers so saving documents go to one of the two partitions...
b) give instructions to all workers on how to save work in progress & completed.
You probably can set up a public folder on each partition then a new labeled folder.

A word of wisdom.. you might need to set up progress and completed on all partitions just because some people click before reading. Then someone needs to be in charge of reviewing those folders and making the correct moves.

Is there any way for OSX Server to reject requests to save files that don't have the appropriate extension? For example, reject all files that have the .exe extension?

Thanks for the reply Cheryl. I will recommend that to the Staff Assistant and the Mac Help Desk.
