I have Mac OSX Server 10.3. I have a number of web sites hosted on my server. I've noticed a lot of traffic and I know that my web sites are not actually that popular. So I looked in the log and there is a lot of accesses like this:

218.93.93.203 - - [19/Sep/2004:23:43:34 -0500] "GET http://if.searchcentrix.com/searchcat.jsp?p=98579&type=search HTTP/1.1" 200 34030

This is not getting something from my host but appears to be going through my host to get to another host. There are about 4 sites doing a ton of this type of activity. I'm not sure why but I'm trying to figure out a way to stop it. I have not been able to find a way to do that yet.

Any suggestions or help would sure be appreciated.

From another forum site, I was directed to the Apache site. There is a setting called ProxyRequests that is causing this. The Server Admin GUI has a check box if you go to Settings / Proxy. The check box is called Enable Proxy.

The apache site warned of various bad things that can happen if you enable this. There are bots that look for proxy servers and then abuse them. That is what happened to me.
