I am using PureFTPd Manager to setup my computer as an FTP server. I can get the anonymous login to work, but when I try to add users it doesn't work. When I attempt to add a user, I enter the password I want to use in the password field and when I click the save button at the top, the password field grays out and fills up with 13 dot characters(the letters appear as dots so I cannot read them).
Pointing my browser to ftp://aaa.aaa.aa.aa, the "a's" represent my ip address, I login as anoymous and I don't need a password and it works correctly. However when I go to ftp://username@aaa.aaa.aa.aa a diolog comes up and asks me for the password, I type it in and then an error message tells me that my username or password or both were incorrect.
I'm not sure whether I set the user/password incorrectly or if I did something wrong with the ftp link. There was also a tab to configure "Virtual Hosts" which I suspect might have something to do with it because the usernames are set under a tab called "Virtual Users", but I don't know what it means.
My goal is to make a user account with a password to connect to my computer through FTP so I can disable anonymous login.
Thanks.
