ShaDANG! Apple cranks up iMac prices

Well, you may have noticed that the price of all three iMac models (I think, the Combo model may be unchanged) have increased $100 in price, blaming the increasing cost of components. Well, I dunno...The iMac isn't very economical at the low end, considering a comparable PC is far cheaper....I would still prefer the iMac, but bringing prices even higher can't help PC users considering the iMac.

I've been watching (and crying) as memory prices keep going up... I had a chance to buy 512MB for around $60 at one point... now it's $160...

I'm suprised Apple is able to keep a solid price at all with fluctuating component prices (especially RAM that keeps going up! ARGH!!!)

I've talked to a few people (most PC people) who have been wanting iMacs and the price made no difference to them.

Hopefully RAM prices will calm down and - probably asking for too much, come back down again. (I need two 512mb RAM chips but NOT buying them at over $300!!! Hell no!)

There is no such thing as a comparable PC. In regards to hardware, maybe. But in regards to overall system integration and performance, I don't think so.

:)

This post brought to you by the letter "I'm bored so I'll post anything at the moment to get a reaction".

IIRC, Apple isn't the one making the memory, so they have no control over the memory market. (They do however control all the components put together)

Also, the comment regarding your PC friends is exactly what Apple wants to hear. Most people I know Mac lovers or PC lovers find the price still very acceptable for what you're getting.

Have I been the only one to notice that the G4's are now in a much better price range as well? No more $6K G4's!
