Sharing a printer and files with a PC

I have a PC running Windows XP. I just purchased an ibook g4 and an airport extreme base station. I connect to the aiport extreme wirelessly with my make, and I have my PC connected to the aiport extreme via the ethernet cable.

How can I share files and a printer between the ibook and the pc?

I have worked through the network setup on the pc. At the end of the setup, it says I need to run the setup utility on the other network computers. However, the setup utility is an .exe file and will not run on the ibook.

My pc is running the zone alarm firewall. Could this be causing a problem?

If you want to share files from the iBook to Windows computers, all you need to do is enable WIndows Sharing in System Preferences under the Sharing pane. As for the iBook being able to access WIndows shares, it can do it right off the bat without setting anything. Just head to Network and you'll see any workgroups that are available.

The Mac should already have the drivers for whatever printer you have. If not, you can always download it from the manufacturer's website or you can download Gimp-Print for Mac OS X.

As for ZoneAlarm, disable it momentariluy and see if this fixes things. If so, enable the IP of the iBook to access the PC through ZoneAlarm.

They should show up automatically given a few seconds on the Mac side. Of course, if you haven't allowed the Mac to have access to that PC via the firewall, then it won't see the workgroup that the PC is in.
