Sharing Internet Connection and Switching Users

Looking for progress
Hey everyone,

So my brother and I got our small recording studio just about done this weekend. I put my G3 in the studio and have my G4 in my office. I am planning on networking them so that we can work on different editing projects at the same time (if the need arises) and for storage reasons. Also, I'd like to share the internet connection just in case we need to find something or whomever is in the studio just wants to surf around.

But here's my problem:

My wife and I both use the G4 and we have different logins. Whenever we switch it knocks the other computer offline. Other than reconnecting it manually, is there anything that we can do that will maintain (or at least reconnect) the connection?

Also, will Fast User Switching in Panther remedy my little situation? It seems like it would, but I don't really know.

Thanks,
Eddie

Mac OS X doesn't connect to anything network until you've logged in, so that's why you get logged off. Simply set it to auto-connect via the Network preference pane.

And yes, FUS will keep your connection alive.

Actually. There is a preference for "disconnect when user logs out" in the PPP options under the PPP tab of Network Prefs. This is probably checked on your machine.
