Ship date for Dual 2ghz?

Does anyone know what the official ship date of the Dual 2ghz G5 is? I heard sometime in late August, but I don't see anything on apple's site....
 
Go to the Apple store and add one to your cart... Walk through the purchasing process and you'll see that it shows "Est Ship Date" as "August'.

That's about as specific as we know...
 
But you're right, the latest rumours that could be seen said 1st week of August for all models but the 2 GHz one, which would follow in the 3rd week of August.
 
alright, so i dont suppose there is any point in placing my order until they are actually shipping... I'm ordering a display to go with it, and if they update the displays I want the new version!

Most things I've read about it show that it's going to be a hot seller. So, you could take the risk of having to wait for the second batch because the first ones are going to be scooped up by pre-orders.
 
i ordered mine 1 day after the announcement and my estimated ship date is 09/02/2003 on the receipt

You're kidding right? You don't really mean that you are complaining about price when you option-out the computer to the hilt. Come on, my new dual G5 will be a lot less than that, and I can actually afford it.
 
Yeah, seriously. Who would buy RAM from Apple anyway? :eek: 8 GB adds around three and a half grand!
 
Fahrv, you can order now and expect it to ship in late August-early September, or you can wait a couple months for Apple to work all the kinks out, as this is basically the Power Mac G5 1.0, and get a computer in maybe October or November. It's your choice, and your money.
 
I always buy apple's first gen :) I usually end up selling it again 6 months later, but I never loose that much since so many people at that point are upgrading to the new first gen.
