should upgrade my Netscape?

Barking at the moon.
I've been mainly using Netscape Communicator 4.75 as my browser. Not because I have something against MS, Internet Explorer just doesn't like espn.com for some reason.

Anyhoo, I hear that Netscape 6.2 is a big improvement, should I look at upgrading? My current Netscape works fine if the new one is faster or something than I wouldn't mind installing it.

Are there any Netscape die-hards that have thoughts on this?

I've found that Netscape 6.2 in 9 is a lot faster than it is in X, but it still suffers on redraws.

Mind you redraws of the actual browser window, not the web content. It takes a while to get the window to finish drawing.

That aside, it starts speeding up. I'd say it's considerably faster than IE, by about 1 - 2 seconds per page load.

As you know each machine is different. This is one of those "whatever works for you" kind of situations...

I would recommend using it, but make sure you keep 4.7 around. ;)

I would suggest upgrading to 4.78 if you do an online banking or transactions. These .01 updates are security updates and a new version usually comes out every six months (4.79 should be out soon). As for moving beyond the 4.7x version, my wife and I still use 4.7 in classic mode to view some sites (and all her bookmarks are just the way she wants them:D )

well, despite having no desire to promote netscape, i just thought i would let you know that 4.7.9 has beeen out for awhile now. You really should remember to try the smart update every so often. i would advise not installing the real player though. smart update took me from realplayer 8 back to 6 and screwed up my default player settings.

call me old fashioned but I still use 4.7x
The problem with the 6.x versions is the load time and the redraw time that drives me nutz :p I am just impatient :)

when netscape first released a beta version of 6 it was awesome. everything after that was crap.
