As you seem to have figured out, mobile apps for bands are poised to become the next Myspace (Myspace back when it was a cool place for bands and music, not Myspace after Murdoch bought it and it became the Internet's Web 2.0 whipping boy.)

It probably won't surprise anyone with connections in the music industry that early adopters include the usual suspects. Trendy rebel Pink has "Pink's Funhouse" which is basically a fan news and download application, and viral darknoise masters NIN have announced plans to release their own subversive version of Tap Tap Revenge.

There is also already a startup that offers apps for your band, presumably from a template they've put together, which could almost be the app store version of the cottage industry that existed on MySpace for page templates.
