sluggish iTunes since 10.3?

Maybe it's just me, but since I installed 10.3, iTunes is often C H U G G I N G away very slowly when I add 20 or 30 songs at a time into the playlist window. I get beachballed in the head for 6-10 seconds just waiting for the soundcheck. Even if I turn off soundcheck(which I won't because I like having even sound levels)the drag and drop 30 mp3's action will sometimes send my machine into a very audible CPU crunching episode that slows it down into nanotime.

Is there a comparable mp3 player out there that someone can highly recommend. I don't need a visualizer, I don't need it to burn anything since I have Toast Titanium, and I don't need it to fetch album art or 99-cent MP3's from the Apple store. I don't need it to make mp3 libraries or rip MP3's out of my CD's. I'm fully capable of handling those tasks myself.

Apple programs have a tendency to treat you like an idiot.

No problems here, I had those problems when i updated iTunes in Jaguar, all was fixed when i moved to Panther.

So you might have a problem somewhere.

I think it's time to attempt the unthinkable. A clean install. This thing is getting weird on me.
