Smaller digi files?

When I put footage from my digi camcorder to my ibook the files size is massive, for example 3 minutes is 600mb, is there any software to comvert it to some kind of file format which is smaller? I don't want to keep zipping and unzipping files everytime I want to watch it though

Best bet is probably Quicktime Pro...offers quite a few formats.

I'd personally use MPEG-4.

You're keeping uncompressed video on your computer with no intention to edit it? Wow...

That sounds about right, 200 MB/minute. Quicktime Pro will definitely work; iMovie will work as well if it's a DV camera.

I export it from my DV camera with imovie but the file size is still massive so I guest I'll have to buy Quicktime Pro.
