smbfs and finder

I have a drive mounted via smbfs (the drive is on a machine running linux). When new files are created on the drive, they don't appear in finder. For example, if there is a new some.pdf file, the only way I know of to open the new file is to open a terminal and:

open ~/sharename/some.pdf

because it doesn't show up in the finder or in file open dialogs.

Is there a way to get finder to list the new files?

I've the same problem ...

i think ve have to wait for jaguar and / or a mooore responsive finder ... infact if you force quit the finder with the disk mounted on finder relaunch you will see the smbfs window updated ...
