I've got one gmx.de and one web.de account. I tried both ways, imap and pop3, but nothing happend. So I tried 'PowerMail' an everything works great.
What's going on with *apples' mail*?
Me don't know, but looks like we've got the same problem. So I can say, check your web or gmx account, but 'PowerMail' checks it! Is 'mail' logging in, in another way than 'PowerMail', I mean the smtp thing?
