Snow iMac got peed on!

We have a fanless snow (white) iMac at work. It spent most of its life in an office adjacent to a machine shop, which may or may not have contributed to a yellowish buildup.

Actually, I think the yellow stains show up on the interior of the case, which leads me to believe that the computer components inside the iMac gave it the yellow look.

Anyway, is there any way of getting it back to its original Apple-esque white? I can post a picture if you want to see the yellow snow… lol

Post the pic, I'd love to see.
As for actually helping with removal, I have no idea. My instinct says that the plastic is probably changed itself, and it's not a removable stain but don't hold me to that.

my super nintendo turned yellow, too. it's the plastic that actually changes-- i believe it's the heat that does it.

Hmm, the pics don't pick up all the yellowness that I can see in real life, but you can see a little. It seems to show up a lot more along the seams.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if the plastic actually warped too. It just didn't feel as solid as usual, and to boot, the little monitor port hatch thingy on the back bottom likes to come off way to easy.

Oh well, I guess Apple didn't test for "cosmetic longevity"…

I'd bet your mac was sitting next to a window. I've had many computer bits turn that exact shade of yellow after sitting next to a window for years. Most notiably my old Epson EX800 dot matrix printer back in like 1986 :) As to fixing it, your best bet is to rotate it in the window so it all turns the same equal color of pee.

Yes, rotate it so it gets an even tan!
It's probably all the extra heat due to the lack of fan that is changing the plastic.

Do people smoke nearby? It looks like some of the computers I used to see at the job I had 15 years ago before smoking got banned in most offices. If so you should be able to clean the deposits off of the inside of the case once you take it apart.

No, it's a smoke free facility. I bet the heat is what did it. I wonder if any other snow iMac users out there can testify?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Dreamed I was an Eskimo
Frozen wind began to blow
Under my boots and around my toes
The frost that bit the ground below
It was a hundred degrees below zero...

And my mama cried
And my mama cried
Nanook, a-no-no
Nanook, a-no-no
Don't be a naughty Eskimo
Save your money, don't go to the show

Well I turned around and I said "Oh, oh" Oh
Well I turned around and I said "Oh, oh" Oh
Well I turned around and I said "Ho, Ho"
And the northern lights commenced to glow
And she said, with a tear in her eye
"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow"
"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow"
