Last night while trying to listen to my beloved Red Wings on the web, I was just disgusted at how many sites use these obscure audio and streaming formats. I ended up giving up and turning on my POS windows machine so I could listed to the game (I live in Connecticut). I really wish someone would get the plug in thing solved. Isn't Quicktime, Real and Windows Media player enough for video and/or audio? Speaking of which, I'm also tired of waiting for Real to do something for OS X - I can find nothing on their site even MENTIONING OS X. You would think Apple would take an interest in this - since nobody will be knocking down their door to offer support, maybe they could do something for us - so our $2000 to $4000 Macs can let us listen to a stupid hockey game when we want to. Maybe I am naive, but how difficult it is to convert an audio or video file? Is what makes a format unique the way it compresses the data?
