Software Update hangs after installing Tiger

For some reason, I have not been able to receive software updates when I select the option from the apple menu.

At first I thought that maybe the site was just getting hit due to it being the first day Tiger was released, but it has not been able to work since then....last night I left it over night, and it stayed stuck in the same spot.

It wasn't really stuck, more like it never initializes.

Any ideas? Will apple support this type of issue, being that it occured as a result of the upgrade?
 
sorry, i dont understand. do u mean that software update cant connect to the update server or that there's no update listed even if itunes and dvd player updates are available?
if i run software update, it works but it doesn't show any update (i didn't update itunes and dvd player yet)
 
Sorry for the ambiguity. Software Update fails to connect to the server. The status bar just seems to hang around mid-way through the proccess. it doesn't crash or anything, just hags there in the same spot.
 
Can you download from Apple directly? I mean, going to their site, and downloading from there?

Also, try a new user account, you never know, it could be a User problem, for some reason.
 
Since upgrading to Tiger a week ago, running Software Update has resulted in nothing but "No new software updates were available at this time" messages, in spite of the fact that iTunes 4.8 was out (and which I eventually downloaded directly from Apple's sit). Any suggestions about cause/fix?
 
I have the same problem.. except mine says no network connection found (-1002) error and sends me to network dia. tool...which i can send and recieve email and surf the web... as i am here now...lol :rolleyes:
