Hey I just recently bought a macbook, and when i try to install the Mac OS X update i get this error message. The update “Mac OS X Update” can’t be saved. Software Update can’t find the update server. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet, then try again.

has anyone come across this problem, your help would be appreciated thanks a lot.

If you are having problems with the Auto Update, try the APPLE UPDATE CENTER and pick the appropriate version. Install it manually.

It would help if you gave us info on your system and what update it was trying to send you. i.e. Tiger or Leopard 10.4.11 or 10.5.1 was it a security or iTunes etc...

I had a similar problem with updates. The computer kept complaining that it was unable to make a connection. Installing a combo update fixed it.

Try deleting the files in /Library/Updates. I had manually installed 10.5.5 by downloading the combo update and just today (2008-12-15) had trouble installing 10.5.6 via Software Updates. I looked in /Library/Updates, found the 10.5.3 update and related files, deleted these files and was able to use Software Updates to install 10.5.6.

Good luck.
