Software update

My iMac connects to the internet (ADSL) through my flatmates WinXP box (recently upgraded from Win2000).

Whilst I can still surf, download and receive emails, the Windows upgrade process seems to have screwed a network setting as I can no longer receive emails or run software update - attempting to do the latter results in a unable to connect' type error.

I'm kind of at a loss with this one, so any suggestions would be welcome...
 
Is your flatmate using the ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) feature built into Windows or a seperate Internet sharing application? I'm thinking the former. He might have to reconfigure Internet sharing on the XP box to allow access on other ports in addition to 80.
