I am trying to upgrade my computer from 10.4.11 to 10.5.5 Is it possible to do this? Here is my system specs.

Laptop
Processor - 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4
Memory 1 GB DDR SDRAM
Startup Disk Macintosh HD

Im a Newbie to computers so if you need more specs I can give them to you.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I just bought a blackberry tour and I cant set up the computer software on my mac since you need 10.5.5

I'm in a similar position.

Any version of system 10.5 is fine for a G4 computer.

You will need to buy a Leopard (OSX 10.5) retail disc and install the system. There is no legal way of upgrading from 10.4 to 10.5 for free.

Once 10.5 is installed, you can upgrade from whichever version you have installed to the latest version 10.5.8 using the Combo Update.

I have looked around for what are now "outdated" 10.5 system discs but the price has not yet dropped very much, which is disappointing. Amazon have some. Apple are not selling any. Some ebay sources are selling questionable discs secondhand.

If you buy a grey disc that came with another computer it will probably not work as these discs are computer specific.

The current system 10.6 will only work on an Intel computer, not a G4 based computer.
