Some questions about freezes

I must stress to begin with that do not have any technical knowledge so all of my attempts to solve this problem so far have been informed via peoples posts.

My ibook G4 came with 10.3 (for two years) then had 10.4 for a year without any problems. A few weeks ago it started to crash. Blue frozen screen and sometimes kernal panic lanuage prompt. It froze at all times without any one factor.
I used the hardware test and ran it lots of times each time is tells me all is ok.

In single user mode I did the fsck - thing and it told me again everything was ok. I ran this several times.

I tried to run memtest, yet no matter how many times I typed in the code it just did nothing and gave me the prompt again.

So someone suggested I use Rember.

I have tried the Rember tool, yet it freezes. Next, I took out the 256 removable ram, it still freezes. It has 125 as part of the internal unit. So obviously that has not been tested.

I have wiped all and reinstalled 10.3, it still froze. I then booted from install disk and ran disk repair and got the shocking (-9972) error code, which included the 'keys are incorrect' (or similar words) message.

So i wiped and re installed a third time. Then ran disk repair and it now says the HD is fixed.

Yet it still freezes...

So a few questions...

1.Do I still purchase (is there a free download anywhere??) the diskwarrior software (i noted some people had problems with 10.3)...

2. or ...Do i simply buy another logic board??? and this will negate the cost of the disk warrior sotware ( im thinking is diskwarrior fails will i still have to buy anyway.)

3.I dont understand the proccess...but is there any value in a attempt to Re-initialize and re-partition the hard drive ?
In the disk utility I only have three tabs...first aid/erase/restore...

What about the restore option? I have wiped all my 'stuff'...

4. is there anything else i can do to get out of a total freeze up as i have read forcing a 'hard' quit with the power button is really really bad, yet cannot get it to respond to any combination of keys, so I am using this hard method each time...which is a lot!!!

5.any ideas!!!! I have spend five days trying to work this out...the bummer is its on my second laptop...so I am lucky...but I cannot justify a huge expense fixing it, yet hate the thought of it being shoved under the bed forever!!

it has just frozen again...so i have just booted from install and done repair disk after selecting the HD from the left and it again says all is well ...HFS repaired....

I am sure the best thing as someone such as myself not to tinker and to leave well alone, but I am trying my best as I have no other option...

Pleeease Help...I keep thinking of throwing it out the window!!
