Something is messed up

I just restarted my 9500, and now the thing won't boot up.

I get the startup chime, the HD spins up, but the screen remains black.

I've tried zapping the PRAM, holding down the motherboard reset button, booting into OS9 from a CD, and nothing gets past the black screen.

It doesn't seem like my Mac is even trying to boot for some reason.

Would this indicate a bad battery?

This machine was working fine for weeks and now all of a suddent it won't start up.

Yes, the clock battery is probably dead. Replace it. How many years has it been since you last replaced the clock battery? If it's been at least a few, it's time.

I got this 9500 only about a month ago or so, so I'm not sure when or if the battery has been changed.

I ended up changing it already, and it seems to be working now. I measured the voltage of the old battery, and of the battery I took out of a dead IIci, and they both seemed to have the same voltage, so I'm not sure why it's working, but I'm not complaining either.

Have you ever taken apart a 9500? Man is it ever hard. You have to take all the cards out of it, take out the CD ROM, and then take out the motherboard to get at the RAM slots, or the battery.
