Sonnet DP

Well I went to comp USA yesterday and played with a DP 800. It made me sick how snappy and fast OS X was compared to my AGP 500. Now I am depressed because I am still paying the $3500.00 off I paid for my 500. I think if I want to continue seriously using OS X I need to either get a new computer or try a proc upgrade. I have had my eye on the Sonnet DP 500 upgrade for almost a year now and was wondering if anyone has actually tried it? Where the results good? I know it is still going to be on a limited bus, so is the 600 bucks worth it?

Even with a double 500Mhz. processors, there will be no comparison to a double 800mhz. you know that.
The real problem is your AGP model because the sonnnet double processor upgrade only works with certain revision of your machine. Check it out before you spend your $600.

no worries on the revision model I just happen to have the right one. I know it wont be as fast as the DP 800 but I would think a sing to DP 500 would have a significant speed increase. I just want un un-biosed opinion someone has to have tried one out.

I have the Sonnet DP 500 upgrade. My Mac started as a G4 400 AGP, which ran OSX 10.0.3 bareably but by no means was it possible to use as my main OS. Although at that time I only had 192mb of ram too. When I upgraded to the Sonnet processor I also bumped the ram to 1.5gigs, With these two upgrades my system was no longer recognizeable to me! It is absolutely fantastic now. I can honestly say that i am going to run this system until a piece of software comes out that I will use which requires something more. It does everything I need faster than I expected it would. Totally suggest the upgrade, do the ram too, it is invaluable to performance in OSX.

thats what I wanted to hear! I already have 640 for ram with cheap prices I will get more soon. Any other success stories?
