Hey there,

Has anyone been able to flash this drive to make it bootable? Maybe with the CRX220A1 firmware? Curious to know cause My B&W had this weird issue yesterday... I rebooted ...and it booted into OS9 -- thinking this was wierd.(cause I didn't choose os9). I tried to select the OSX start up volume from the control panel, but OS9 didn't see my OSX start up disk ... HUH I thought, 30 gigs just gone??? so I ran DW from OS9 which saw the OSX drive, rebuilt it using DW... I was good to go ...I could now boot into OSX ... but if I didn't have os9 loaded ... I think I would've been screw'd... so my new goal is to make this drive bootable for when thinks like this happen I can boot from DW cd - or at least research it like crazy ..... Any advice?

Thanks

acid

PS I think I have already ready every page on xlr8yourmac -- twice :)

To make sure the DW CD is bootable, see if there is a System Folder on it. You should be able to boot with it by inserting it, restarting computer and holding down the C key.

Yes all the CD's are bootable ... Have used all with the old stock CD-ROM ..... what I would like to make bootable is a SONY CDRW model number CRX220E1 , an am curious to know if the CRX220A1 firmware update makes this a bootable CDRW on apple hardware.

How is the Sony CDRW connected to your computer? Firewire and USB should be bootable as long as you have a CD in place that has a system folder on it.

IDE and a B&W machine, and unless one has a Sony CRX220E1 model that has been flased with a CRX220A1 firmware or a lite-on firm ware, on ewill Not know if this drive is booteble ... So For any one out there with this drive on a IDE channel that can answer weather the CRX220A1 firmware is bootable or a lite on firmware for this drive is bootable thanks....
