If that's the MicroMV camcorder, then that's not true firewire.
It's a proprietory firewire...in this case, MicroMV firewire, and will only work with Sony's crappy software (pixela or whatever they're using).
That's on of the main reasons why I didn't buy that, but got the DCR-PC101 instead.
There are also technical reasons, as it saves as mpeg2 onto the tape, blah, blah, blah.
